How the Growth Mindset can transform your business

When adversity hits, how do you respond? Is it with optimism or pessimism? Adversity sucks. No one will tell you otherwise. However, it is always HOW we respond that separates those with grit, from those without grit. It also comes down to your mindset, do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?

A phenomenal book everyone should read is GRIT by Angela Duckworth. In her book, Dr. Duckworth lays out how to become gritter. While I won’t spoil the book for you, one of the facets of the book talks about having a growth mindset. This is one of the key factors that separates those with grit from those who do not. The growth mindset is one where if you fail at something, you try and try again. Or you also think to yourself, “Huh, I do not know this; but I know I can learn.”

The other mindset that causes people to not have grit is the fixed mindset. Having a fixed mindset is essentially the antithesis to a growth mindset. Having a fixed mindset basically means that you think you have learned all you can learn. You cannot progress or become better. When adversity strikes, you wave the white flag and say, “There was nothing else I could do.” Changing your mind from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset will be a catalyst for you and your business

One of my favorite quotes is, “There is no comfort in the growth zone, and there is no growth in the comfort zone.” Growing is hard. Growing is tough. However, growing is what brings progress and innovation to yourself and your business. In order to grow your business, you have to get used to being uncomfortable. You can be at peace, but changing your mindset from fixed to growth can be challenging at first.

Changing your mindset from fixed to growth in business could mean taking your IT services seriously. One of the secrets to growing business is making sure your data and technology can be protected and fixed if anything happens to it. In today’s tech driven economy, if your computer is messing up, that can cause your business to stall. While IT may not be that “cool thing” to do; making sure your IT department is there, reliable, and can take care of whatever you need, brings you the peace of mind you need to grow your business. Therefore, next time you’re struggling with your IT, actively decide to take it seriously, use your growth mindset, and consider getting a phenomenal IT MSP for your business.
